An Experienced Health and Safety Advisor is required to join the UK's largest DIY Retailer working from their central office in Southampton covering retail outlets throughout the UK and Ireland.  If you have a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent and relevant industry experience then this could be the new opportunity you have been waiting for.

SKILLS

- Established Health and Safety Professional in recognised role (EHO or other).
- Qualified to degree or equivalent level in Health and Safety.
- Excellent knowledge of CDM.
- Excellent knowledge of LOPP.
- Preference to have chartered membership of IOSH or other.
- Full and proven understanding of Risk Assessment process.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel, knowledge of Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal, able to communicate effectively with personnel of various levels both internally and externally, including with Enforcing Authorities.
- Established and demonstrable diplomacy skills.
- Proven organisation skills and time management.
- Able to work to deadlines in a fast paced environment.
- Team player who is willing to get involved and self manage.
- Clean driving license and willingness to undertake frequent travel.  
ROLE

- Assist the Safety Manager in the effective operation of the department and manage their own programme of work within the departmental plan.
- React to Health and Safety incidents.
- Liase effectively with enforcing authorities on all aspect of Health and Safety process and communication with the company.
- Represent the company at Court and Tribunal hearings as and when required.
- Represent the company when dealing with enforcement bodies as required.
- Develop effective links with store's and Operations to identify risk, and ensure that effective corrective actions are fully implemented.
- Conduct investigations into accidents and incidents on behalf of the company,
- Develop effective Risk Assessments
- Complete effective reviews of incidents and implement subsequent recommendations.
- Establish effective links with the company's legal representatives.

Reporting to the Safety Manager, Risk Management, the Health and Safety Advisor will primarily ensure that proper health and safety standards are applied throughout the stores, and that legal processes are managed effectively.
 
Travel across UK and Eire can be expected.
