Judy Garland was an Academy Award-nominated American film actress and singer, best known for her role as Dorothy Gale in The Wizard of Oz (1939).

The American Film Institute named Garland eighth among the Greatest Female Stars of All Time. After Oz, Garland became one of MGM's most bankable stars, proving particularly popular when teamed with fellow juvenile star Mickey Rooney in a string of "backyard musicals".

She is also most famous for her rendition of "Over the Rainbow" which was placed as number 1 in the Songs of the Century project.
