Protest City centre 16th March 2008- help save Woolston

Date posted: Friday 9th May

MARCH TO SAVE WOOLSTON FROM OVERCROWDING! 4000 new people, 0.8 parking spaces per unit....an hours travel to get over the bridge or onto the M27.

Meet us at the Cenotaph( Statue behind the Civic centre) at 16h00 on Friday 16th March. Bring the whole family as well as banners and posters if you like. (This is the last day that we as the public have to protest!) we will March around the block and hand a formal petition over to the Head of Planning at 17h00. Please tell friends and family and anyone whom you know who cares about Woolston and preserving our quality of life.

If you are a resident of Southampton and oppose the amount of tower blocks and flats that are being proposed at the Vosper site in Woolston.

Our Points are
1650 new dwellings equated to 3500-4000 new people in a small space. That is more people per square hectare than London, Beijing and Monacco. The roads and transport network is not suitable for this type of mass housing project. We want jobs and commercial business but not overcrowding, flats and highrise towerblocks.

Our view is that Crest Nichols needs to reduce the number of flats and provide more family housing in line with the area and infrastructure.
