Housing Renewal Officer
The main duties of this role are:
- To investigate and respond appropriately to service requests relating to housing disrepair and or adaptations
- Inspect all types of residential dwellings to determine suitability for use by the occupant, compliance with statutory housing requirements, and eligibility for financial assistance
- Prepare inspection reports, schedules of work, estimate costs of repairs and adaptations and recommend appropriate course of action
- Offer Loans and/or other forms of financial support as available via the Council
- Undertake site visits for the purpose of authorising interim and final grant and or loan payments. Monitor the quality and value for money of building works in progress to ensure satisfactory standards are attained
- Prepare witness statements and attend court to give evidence
The Ideal candidate will have the following:
·A BTEC in Environmental Health, or Building Studies or other relevant qualification or experience directly relevant to the duties of the post
·Experience in surveying residential buildings particularly in relation to the renovation of older properties
·Knowledge and experience of estimating the cost of building repairs
·Ability to work flexibly as part of a team
·Good communication skills both Written & Oral
