Position: Health, Safety & Environment Advisor
Location: Fleet, Hampshire
Benefits: Salary up to £35,000 company car or allowance, 25-30 days holiday, life assurance, health-care, pension.
The Company
Our Client is a well-respected building contractor who specialises in medium sized commercial and domestic projects both refurbishment and new-build to the value of £ £3 million.
Due to the existing incumbent retiring they require a Health & Safety Advisor. You will be responsible for the below activities.
· Acting as Health Safety and Environment Manager for all construction activities in the South.
· Reporting directly to the Managing Director.
· Based at offices but travelling to various sites will be required.
· A thorough knowledge of building construction embracing Commercial and Industrial Premises as well as Utilities installations is a prime requirement.
· A professional Health and Safety Qualification is required (NEBOSH Construction ideally or above)
· A thorough knowledge of Health Safety and Environmental legislation will need to be demonstrated.
· The appointed applicant must be computer literate and capable of producing all documentation required as part of the companies business, including risk assessments, method statements, safety guidance, compliance with clients requirements as well as documentation required for works carried out in accordance with CDM 2007
· The appointed person will be responsible for administering and periodically updating all existing Health Safety and Environment documentation and procedures as well as ensuring full compliance with all new legislation. These duties will include administering the existing ISO 9001 Quality Management System as well as assisting management in achieving ISO 14001 in the near future. The candidate will also assist the management team during periodic audits of companies activities carried out by clients and insurers.
· The work will include activities mainly within Commercial and Industrial sites with much of the current building activities carried out within Utilities sites, such as operational Gas Transmission Plants and HV Electricity Transformer Sites. Further training will be given to the selected candidate to allow for such sites to be visited, in accordance with the client's site safety requirements.
· The candidate will also be required to assist the Management team in identifying further training required within the company team as legislation and clients requirements change and implementing this training.
· You will be responsible for monitoring and auditing site activities to ensure that the workforce carries out work safely in full compliance with legislation and clients safety rules.
Experience:
NEBOSH General or similar qualification
Experience in Construction
A chartered member of IOSH - Desirable not essential
Experience with health & safety systems e.g. risk assessments, incident reporting
Computer literate, excellent Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills
