My client is a major consultancy who are looking to recruit an Assistant Highways Engineer to their Basingstoke team.

Job Description
To assist in identifying needs and provide cost effective technical solutions considering the needs of key stakeholders to an agreed budget and programme. Seek every opportunity to gain experience in and extend knowledge of the civil engineering profession with the aim of becoming qualified at the earliest opportunity.
Experience
- Appropriate recent experience in Highway Engineering
- Recent experience of working in a multi-disciplinary teams

- Strong communications skills to be able to unambiguously communicate targets, and priorities.
- Ability to develop relationships and engender trust at all levels of the organisation and with Clients.
Principal Responsibilities / Key Duties:
- To assist the Senior Highways Engineer in ensuring that the Highways Team have adequate training and resources.
- To assist the Senior Highways Engineer manage external resources used by the Highways Team.
- To agree the briefs, programmes and budgets with the Highways Team Leader and Senior Highways Engineer.
- To prepare designs, reports, specifications and other deliverables for highways schemes.
- To monitor the designs produced to ensure they meet the design briefs set by the Delivery Teams.
- To ensure designs are appropriate and meet the expected levels of technical excellence.
- To seek innovation in the delivery of schemes and techniques used to design and construct them.
- To ensure the quality system is actively applied to all highways schemes.
- To prepare quarterly training reports and hold quarterly training meetings; and undertake annual training reviews.
- To actively seek opportunities for training.
