Quality Manager
Position: Quality Manager- ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and TS16949
Location: Portsmouth
Salary: Up to £42,000

Our Client is part of a worldwide business supplying excellence in the field of high performance thermoplastic engineering compounds. They bring together businesses with renowned specialist expertise in engineered polypropylene, reinforced poly amides and speciality compounds.
RESPONSIBLE FOR
Maintaining quality, reliability, safety and environmental standards of materials, components, products and services. Maintain and develop the Quality Management System (MS), report on its performance and make recommendations for future improvements to the system and liaise with senior management accordingly.
MAIN DUTIES
Responsible for maintaining, implementing, monitoring and improving the Company's quality management system.
- Act as the focal point for all quality matters within the organisation.
- Manage a team of QC technicians to identify quality issues within the manufacturing process through preventive and corrective actions.
- Ensure continual improvement by applying modern quality tools/techniques to identify root causes and establishing corrective actions.
- Manage External and Internal audits and implementing corrective action plans.
- Ensure the quality message is transmitted to and understood by everyone.
- Work closely with Production, Technical and other departments across the company to identify areas for improvement and support the implementation of continuous improvement programmes.
- Conduct analysis and interpretation of quality data, report and issue corrective actions.
- With Technical Development, formulate test methods and standard for the QA of new materials, together with agreeing test methods/standards with end specifiers for performance requirements.
- Provide rapid feedback on non-conformance's.
- Provide an analytical service to resolve customer complaints and recommend on disposal of returned material.
- Countersign certificates of analysis and provide any other release/supply documentation required by specific end users.
- Liaise with external accreditation bodies to ensure the Company's MS is reviewed and updated in line with changing requirements.
- In association with Purchasing Manager - assess, authorise approval and monitor on going performance of all suppliers. PERSON PROFILE
- Extensive quality management knowledge of ISO 9001;
- Experience with an automotive; process manufacturing or plastics related environment;
- Degree qualified or equivalent in a scientific subject, preferably chemistry / polymer science;
- Internal / external auditing experience;
- Able to drive cultural change / continuous improvement;
- Experience/knowledge of implementing TS16949;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
