Development & Infrastructure Design Engineer, £28,000 - £40,000 DOE Southampton
I am currently working on a recruitment assignment for a major global Consulting Engineers who are seeking to appoint a Development Infrastructure Engineer to their team in Southampton.
Their UK offices provide integrated management and consultancy services to all aspects of the built and natural environment, ranging from management, engineering and planning to environmental advice.
They have over 2,700 staff operating from a network of offices throughout the UK, and they are one of the UK's major multi-disciplinary consultancies, with clients in both public and private sectors.
They offer a truly integrated approach to a range of clients including The Royal Bank of Scotland, BAA, the Highways Agency, Taylor Woodrow, Transport for London, and Land Securities.
Their Infrastructure Development team specialises in providing sustainable development infrastructure solutions from initial concepts, through to planning and full implementation.
They specialise in providing high level advice to mainly private sector clients on planning and design issues relating to Highways, Signal Design, Sewerage, SUDS, Building Drainage, Flood Protection, Earthworks and Service Co-ordination on Residential, Business Parks, Retail, Industrial and Commercial Developments, both in the UK and overseas. They also provide advice on the implications of climate change and the wider sustainability issues.
The Role:
Your principal role will be a designer within a small team producing planning applications and construction drawings. You can expect to be active on a number of projects / client accounts at any given time.
Candidate Requirements:
- Your qualifications should include a civil engineering degree or BTEC HNC/HND
- You will also have post graduate experience in highway and / or drainage design
- You will need to have good written and spoken communication skills and be able to work as part of a team. You must be able to demonstrate how you have used initiative to research alternative engineering solutions.
- You will be proficient in the design of highways, with experience in applying Highways Agency (DMRB, MMHW, etc) and Local Authority design guidance, and / or drainage systems, with experience of Sewers for Adoption.
- Ideally you will be well versed in the preparation of drawings for Contract Documents and legal agreements (S278, S38 and S104 Adoption Agreements).
- Â You will also be able to use one or more of the following design software packages; PDS (or similar) for the design of highways, or sewers using WINDES.
- Ability to produce drawings in AutoCAD is essential and the ability to design traffic signals in LINSIG would be an advantage.
