Full time, 39hr per week over 3 nights per week. Working 19.30 - 07.45.
Our client is currently looking for waking night support staff to work within a children’s residential setting. This residential setting is both a School and a home which caters for up to 28 children who have a variety of needs, including severe and complex learning difficulties, autism, epilepsy challenging behaviours, aggressions, self injury, and disruptive behaviours. The home provides education, play, leisure, days out and holidays for the children.
Most children live in the home long term; some children live close by and come to the school daily. All children live in small familiar family groups with their own staff who are responsible for their care, education and support programme and their social development.
Key responsibities:
Undertaking night duties as directed by night team leaders/ managers during handover period.
Engaging older children in evening activities
Undertaking some domestic duties during the night shift.
Checking children every 20 minutes during the night.
Undertaking additional hours for training courses as required.
Ensuring each child’s emotional, social, physical and intellectual needs are met, recording each child’s emotional and physical behaviour.
Respect Confidentiality at all times.
Work in accordance with the schools equal opportunity policy.
Actively discourage smoking and promote health.
Qualifications and training
NVQ 2 in essential
NVQ 3 desirable
First Aid and Basic food Hygiene desirable.
Experience in autism, challenging behaviours and learning disabilities would be advantageous.
